A English mea culpa, and we, we and BHL? Manchester attack and Libya

It must have been a landslide victory for Theresa May, who wanted to profit from the general concern related to the Brexit to increase her majority. However, in recent days, polls, which certainly have to be considered cautiously in England even more than elsewhere, seemed  to announce a comeback of the Labour Party, yet taken by the disputed (by the labor establishment) Jeremy Corbyn. One of the reasons: the Manchester bombing highlighted even more the huge mistake that was the British and French intervention in Libya. Indeed, the terrorist was torn between Manchester and Libya, where his father had enlisted him at sixteen in his Islamist anti-Gaddafi fight. In fact, a part of the Libyans in Manchester played a significant role in the civil war of 2011 in Libya. At that time, the (conservative) British authorities facilitated sending Islamists from Manchester in Libya, as the father of the terrorist, thinking they constitute a more credible alternative to Gaddafi that laics (according to Le Monde, May 30, 2017). It must be said that in England, unlike France, Libyan politics had been already heavily criticized, in 2016, by a parliamentary report lambasting British military intervention in Libya "based on incorrect assumptions" and ill-prepared. "We were trained by french enthusiasm", explains a parliamentarian. British policy in Libya before and since the intervention of March 2011 was based on "erroneous assumptions and an incomplete understanding of the country and the situation." According to the report, the British and the French "were blind about the significant part of the Islamists in the rebellion, and did not anticipate that they would benefit. Parliamentarians described the "disastrous record of intervention, designed to change a regime without providing alternatives, which resulted in the transformation of Libya in 'failed - state' . '" "The result is a political and economic collapse, a civil  and tribal war, a humanitarian crisis and migrations, a widespread violation of the human rights, the spread of weapons of gadhafi in the region and the emergence of the Islamic State in Libya", write unvarnished parliamentarians in their summary.

In addition, the report says: "the evidence we have gathered, the threat to civilians from Benghazi has been widely exaggerated"!

A mistake, a crime, an imbecility, a policy change - Corbyn's right!

Remember that September 15, 2011, the president of the Republic french Nicolas Sarkozy and the British Prime Minister David Cameron, followed as their shadows by the philosopher Bernard Henri Levy landed Benghazi cheered by a jubilant crowd. The English, in good parliamentary Democrats were keen to make their mea culpa. And we? Will we hear yet BHL lessons of geostrategy? A little regret? Well, finally, with Macron, we should be rid of the brilliant philosopher and his influence.

It's really a pure scandal and an unspeakable mess. Because finally, for the first time, there was an agreement of the United Nation General Council, Russians and Chinese included, for an operation limited to Benghazi to protect people against an imminent assault and impose mediation to Gadhafi. French and English themselves were deliberately perjuries and continued the war to provoke the fall of Kadhafi. With the result that we know! And much worse; understandably, Russians and Chinese well vowed that they would never do it again, and opposed any intervention in Syria. Bravo! The Libyan shit is also responsible for the Syrian mess and its millions of deaths. In history, this intervention in Libya will appear as a fault and a crime, and a worse than 1956 Suez imbecility.

Another forgotten, for which some should perhaps be accountable: the death of a french secret agent, Pierre Marziali, murdered the May 12, 2011 in Benghazi. Having rightly understood that the rebels supported by Bernard Henri Lévy and Nicolas Sarkozy consisted of battalions of hard-core jihadists, Marziali wanted to prevent Claude Gueant and, above all, Nicolas Sarkozy, a friend of the Qatar,Emirate, which supported then financially and militarily the rebels Libyans. Alain July, former Director of the DGSE intelligence questioned by the authors of "dead for Françafrique", by far the most credible scenario book. Excerpt: 'the katiba from 17 February claimed the death of Marziali, however it was supported by the Qataris. That a malicious person has a message to the guys at the katiba or the Qataris a French was there and spying them, it is possible! Dulas and Marziali had written a note to warn against the Islamists. Less than a month later, Marziali is killed. In this job I'm too old to believe in coincidences. If someone wanted to be clever by dropping the name of Marziali to Islamists, it is already very serious. "But if this leak was organized, that the info has been transmitted in good conscience to the katiba or its Qatari protectors, it is even worse: it would be treason." At the very least, Marziali took high risks to know who really were the anti-Gaddafi and let know to the French authorities, and he lost his life for nothing. But in France, no mea culpa!

Yet our political brilliant did not understand a few simple truths, for example that a secular dictatorship is better than a religious dictatorship, much better than a complete collapse. That military interventions in the Middle East have been disastrous. It is stupid enough to be surprised and indignant because more we're bombing the Arab Muslims, more we destroy their societies, more they commit attacks at home. (well in cases where intervention protects a country and its legitimate authorities against the collapse in the face of an Islamist attack, as in Mali, it is obviously a duty to lead). That's what Jeremy Corbyn says, presneting himself as a man of peace therefore, and he may be damned right.

And in France? Apart from Michel Onfray, not many people . Since there seems to be a renewal in Politics there is, it would be good that there is also a renewal of ideas. And a more important role for those who are opposed to the wars of Iraq and intervention in Libya at the expense of those who supported them.

Un mea culpa anglais, et nous, et nous, et BHL ?

Ce devait être une victoire écrasante pour Theresa May, qui voulait profiter de l’état d’inquiétude lié au Brexit pour renforcer sa majorité; or, depuis quelques jours, les sondages, dont certes il faut se méfier en Angleterre encore plus qu’ailleurs annoncent une remontée en flèche des travaillistes, pourtant emmenés par le contesté (par l’establishment travailliste) Jeremy Corbyn. Unes des raisons : l’attentat de Manchester a mis encore plus en évidence l’immense erreur qu’a été l’intervention britannique et française en Lybie. Le terroriste était en effet tiraillé entre Manchester et la Lybie, où son père l’avait enrôlé à seize ans dans son combat islamiste anti-Kadhafi. De fait, une partie des Libyens de Manchester  a joué un rôle non négligeable dans la guerre civile de 2011 en Libye. A cette époque, les autorités (conservateurs) britanniques ont facilité l’envoi en Libye d’islamistes de Manchester, comme le père du terroriste, estimant qu’ils constituaient une alternative plus crédible à Kadhafi que les laïcs ! Il faut dire qu’en Angleterre, contrairement à la France, la politique libyenne avait été déjà étrillée, en 2016,  par un rapport parlementaire fustigeant une intervention militaire britannique en Libye «fondée sur des postulats erronés» et mal préparée. «Nous avons été entraîné par l'enthousiasme français», explique un parlementaire. La politique britannique en Libye avant et depuis l'intervention de mars 2011 a été basée sur « des suppositions erronées et une compréhension incomplète du pays et de la situation.» Selon le rapport, les Britanniques et les Français « ont été aveugles quant à la part non négligeable des islamistes dans la rébellion, et n'ont pas su prévoir que ceux-ci en tireraient profit ». Les parlementaires décrivent le « bilan désastreux d'une intervention, destinée à changer un régime sans prévoir de solution de rechange, qui a abouti à la transformation de la Libye en «failed-state» («État défaillant»). «Le résultat est un effondrement politique et économique, une guerre civile et tribale, une crise humanitaire et migratoire, une violation généralisée des droits de l'homme, la dispersion des armes de Kadhafi dans toute la région et l'apparition de l'État islamique en Libye», écrivent sans fard les parlementaires dans leur résumé.

En plus, le rapport affirme :« d'après les indices que nous avons rassemblés, la menace envers les civils de Benghazi a été largement exagérée» !

Une faute, un crime, une imbécillité, une politique à changer – Corbyn a raison !

Rappelons que 15 septembre 2011, le président de la République français Nicolas Sarkozy et le premier ministre britannique David Cameron, suivis comme leurs ombres par le philosophe Bernard Henri Levy débarquaient à Benghazi acclamés par une foule en liesse. Les Anglais, en bons démocrates parlementaires ont tenu à faire leur mea culpa. Et nous ? Entendra-t-on encore BHL donner des leçons de géostratégie ? Un petit regret ? Bon, enfin, avec Macron, on devrait être débarrassé du brillant philosophe et de son influence élyséenne.

C’est vraiment un pur scandale et un gâchis innommable. Car enfin, pour la première fois, il y avait un accord du Conseil Général de Sécurité, Russes et Chinois compris, pour une opération limitée à Bengazi afin de protéger les populations contre un assaut imminent et imposer une médiation à Kadhafi. Français et Anglais se sont délibérément parjurés et ont poursuivi la guerre pour provoquer militairement la chute de Kadhafi. Avec le résultat que l’on sait ! Et bien pire ; du coup, Russes et Chinois se sont bien promis qu’on ne les y reprendrait pas, et se sont opposés à toute intervention en Syrie. Bravo ! Le merdier libyen est aussi responsable du merdier syrien et de ses millions de morts. Dans l’histoire, cette intervention en Libye apparaîtra comme une faute et un crime, et une imbécillité pire que l’expédition de Suez.

Autre fait oublié, pour lesquels certains devraient peut-être rendre des comptes : la mort d’un agent secret français, Pierre Marziali, assassiné le 12 mai 2011 à Benghazi. Ayant compris à juste titre que les rebelles soutenus par Bernard Henri Lévy et Nicolas Sarkozy se composaient de bataillons de djihadistes purs et durs, Marziali voulut prévenir Claude Guéant et, surtout, Nicolas Sarkozy, l’ami du Qatar, l’émirat qui soutenait alors financièrement et militairement les rebelles libyens. Alain Juillet, ancien directeur du Renseignement de la DGSE interrogé par les auteurs de « Mort pour la Françafrique », livre de loin le scénario le plus crédible. Extrait : «La katiba du 17 Février a revendiqué la mort de Marziali, or elle était soutenue par les Qataris. Qu’une personne malintentionnée ait fait passer le message aux gars de la katiba ou aux Qataris qu’un Français était chez eux et les espionnait, ça, c’est possible ! Dulas et Marziali avaient rédigé une note pour mettre en garde contre les islamistes. Moins d’un mois plus tard, Marziali est tué. Je suis trop vieux dans ce métier pour croire aux coïncidences. Si quelqu’un a voulu faire le malin en lâchant le nom de Marziali aux islamistes, c’est déjà très grave. Mais si cette fuite a été organisée, que l’info a été transmise en toute conscience à la katiba ou à ses protecteurs qataris, là, c’est encore plus grave : ce serait de la trahison.»  A tout le moins, Marziali a pris des risques insensés pour savoir qui étaitent vraiment les anti-Kadhafi et le faire savoir  aux autorités françaises, et il a perdu la vie pour rien. Mais en France, pas de mea culpa !

Pourtant, nos brillants politiques n’ont pas compris quelques vérités simples, par exemple qu’une dictature laïque vaut mieux qu’une dictature religieuse, et bien mieux qu’un effondrement complet. Que les interventions militaires au Moyen-Orient ont été désastreuses. Qu’il est assez stupide de s’étonner et de s’indigner parce que plus nous bombardons les musulmans arabes, plus nous détruisons leurs sociétés, plus ils commettent d’attentats chez nous.(après, dans des cas où une intervention protège un pays et ses autorités légitimes de l’effondrement face à une agression islamiste, comme au Mali, c’est évidemment un devoir de la mener). C’est ce que Jeremy Corbyn explique, et il se présente en homme de paix conséquent, et ceci explique une partie de sa remontée.

Et en France ? à part Michel Onfray, pas grand monde. Puisque renouvellement de la classe politique il y a, il serait bon qu’il y ait aussi renouvellement des idées. Et qu’un rôle plus important soit confié à ceux qui se sont opposés aux guerres  d’Irak et à l’intervention en Libye au détriment de ceux qui les ont soutenues.
